One great health resource that all of us can and should have available is a home defibrillator. We may not need it ourselves, but we can have it in case a guest or a visiting family member should have a heart attack. They are available and easy to learn to use. However, should you get it it is important to maintain it properly. A defibrillator is a battery-operated machine that stores up energy from the battery and then at the proper moment the right amount of energy goes through the paddles to the person with the hopes of starting their heart. The circuit board needs at least annual maintenance and the battery may need changing occasionally. So, do all you can and follow the instructions with your new home defibrillator so you can use it when necessary.
